This is the area's first Steiner Kindergarten. The Kindergarten is affiliated to the Steiner Waldorf Schools Fellowship and as such is part of a worldwide network of schools that have been successfully educating in this unique way for the past 80 years. In the kindergarten children from 3 to 6 continue to learn through imaginative play and practical activites. Here we allow the children to learn at their own pace fostering their natural love for learning. Play is important work here, it develops all the skills necessary for their future academic life. Families wishing to visit Kindergarten (based in Cragg Vale) should contact Ingrid, on 01422 884089 or attend one of our frequent open days (see 'events' link). The contribution for your child attending the kindergarten, varies according to income and is between £13.50 and £19 per session. The Nursery Education Grant is available for three and four year olds and is supplemented by a contribution, which may be reclaimed by those in receipt of family tax credit. The success of the project has been driven by parents, teachers, supporters and friends. Please note that parents of children attending Kindergarten are strongly encouraged to play an active role in the development of the project. Currently, parents assist with administration, communication, fundraising and event planning, as well as with Kindergarten activities.
